Popcorn Time is back!

Home of the official Popcorn Time fork, popcorntime.io, has been dead since it was taken down in late October 2015 and although there has been rumours that the project would reemerge there’s been nothing substantial until now. Popcorntime.io remains dead but what remains of the project seems to be alive and well and has moved to popcorntime.sh.

The first question that comes to mind is if they’re legit or not and even though it does look like it, we’re not ready to pop out the champagne just yet but we will of course be following the situation closely.

Open Popcorn Time 3.8.5 and wait for the hotfix to fix the broken menus.

Open Popcorn Time 3.8.5 and wait for the hotfix to fix the broken menus.

They’re celebrating the rebirth with beta 3.8.6 that’s basically just the most recent software from before they were shut down but with a small hotfix that fixes the dead menus. If you’ve already got beta 3.8.5 installed, all you need to do is open it and wait for the update to install itself.

It’s hard to say what will happen to the Popcorn Time CE forks but it would definitely good news for the Popcorn Time community and project if the official fork came back.
