The relatively unknown but really quite excellent Popcorn Time alternative Stremio has just expanded from only offering desktop software to also include an Android app.
The app is an alpha version meaning it’s only just been released for testing. It also means that the app isn’t finished yet so some features are missing and you can expect the app to crash every now and then.
In it’s current version, the app can play movies and TV-shows with the possibility of adding subtitles. The desktop version has support for casting via Chromecast, Apple TV and DLNA so it’s a safe guess those features will also be added to the Android app later on.
Additionally, it’s an option to stream live TV from a wide selection of channels and also to watch YouTube videos without having to look at ads.
The installation file (apk) can be found here and if you haven’t tried installing a third-party app (not from Google Play) before you can follow the steps in the guide to install Popcorn Time for Android as the procedure is identical.
